We help people speak under pressure with ease through transformational live events and workshops.
Joseph VanderStel coaches professionals to speak with calm, presence, and authority under pressure.
Joseph didn't come to speaking coaching from the corporate world. He came from music: a decade in front of audiences, a PhD in music theory, teaching music at MIT. His obsession is the study of how sound and movement hold attention… rhythm, tone, silence.
And it turns out that's exactly what public speaking is.
In 8 years of coaching public speaking he has worked with over 3,000 people in dozens of workshops across the US
Everything runs on the same method, in rooms of different sizes.
Multi-week cohorts and intensives for people who want to change how they speak for good. You practice under real pressure, with coaching in front of the room.
Open events around the country, free to attend. Volunteers get coached at the front of the room while everyone watches what changes. Bring a friend.
A few fully funded workshops a year, led on site at your location. No cost to the host, and nothing sold in the room.

Public speaking is a subtractive art: it is far more about removing habits and beliefs than it is about learning new skills.
Joseph joined the morning show on July 10, 2025 to talk about confident communication and the free workshop that followed.
Watch the segment →“Joseph brought a great energy to the 2-hour class which felt like much less time! He demonstrated and helped the class with multiple exercises that help us improve an engaging message while learning how to better let go of nerves and control breathing. There were many tips and takeaways I was excited to review with my spouse when I got home. 10 out of 10!”
“I had a wonderful experience with Joseph. Joseph was very informative on public speaking, and I learned several techniques I can immediately apply. The hands-on training was exactly what I needed. My biggest takeaway was the practical tips on preparation and delivery that I will continue to use. Thank you for the great session!”
